Ultimate Judo League – Local, Fun & Focused on Growth

We’re thrilled to launch the Ultimate Judo League, an in-house competition series designed to give every member of Ultimate Judo – from our newest 5-year-olds to our experienced youth – the chance to experience exciting and meaningful competition.

Why We're Doing It:

Competing can be daunting, especially for younger or newer judoka. The Ultimate Judo League creates a safe, familiar and encouraging setting where all kids can test themselves, learn from others, and feel the reward of their own effort.

This isn’t just for squad members – it’s for everyone.

How It Works:

Children are split into small pools of 4–5 based on age, weight, and ability. They’ll compete in a round robin format(everyone fights everyone), with their pool supervised and guided by a coach throughout.

Each fight scored with:

  • 3 points for the first Ippon

  • 1 bonus point for each additional Ippon (max 5 points per fight)

  • 3 Ippons = automatic win

We also feature a Double Point Technique each event – something from class that, if used successfully, earns an extra point!

Team Competition:

Every judoka is assigned to a team. Their individual scores contribute to a team leaderboard. At the final event, the team with the most points wins the title of Ultimate Judo League Champions!

What You Get:

  • Bespoke collectors Medal and diploma for every child each session

  • Under 10s: not placed, effort celebrated

  • Ages 10+: placed 1st–5th in their group

Logistics:

  • Events held one Sunday per month for 4 months (dates announced in advance)

  • 90-minute time slot per group

  • 1 parent per child can stay to watch

  • £20 per match day – covers costs and supports our Japan 2026 Trip

Bonus:

We’ll also be involving our Junior Coaches Academy, giving young leaders experience in refereeing, event management, and more!
