Achieving a black belt in judo requires competitors to earn points by defeating their peers at national-level events. It’s a demanding journey filled with emotional highs and lows — from the exhilaration of victory to the disappointment of leaving an event without a single point. But it is precisely this rollercoaster that builds resilience, discipline, and character.
After completing the competitive requirements, judoka must also demonstrate their technical knowledge — meeting national and international criteria that ensure the belt they wear is truly representative of their skill and understanding of the sport.
That’s why it was such a proud moment to present Alessandro Scotti with his black belt, officially ratified by the British Judo Association (BJA). Alessandro’s dedication, perseverance, and spirit have been unwavering — and achieving this milestone at the age of 49 makes it even more remarkable.
His journey has not only shaped him personally, but has inspired those around him. Confidence, self-respect, and inner pride have grown alongside his physical skill. His success is shared with Rosa and Edoardo, who have supported him through countless evenings and weekends, enabling him to chase this dream.
Moments like these remind us that in judo, a black belt isn’t just a piece of cloth — it’s a symbol of transformation, of resilience, and of inner strength.
Congratulations, Alessandro — a truly well-deserved achievement.
