14 November 2021
On Sunday, 14th November 2021, the historic town of St Andrews hosted the Scottish Student Sport Kyu Grade Judo Championships—a perfect setting for an action-packed day of Judo.
For Ultimate Judo members Karl and Keith, it marked their first taste of competitive judo—and they absolutely rose to the occasion in front of a lively, knowledgeable crowd.
Keith was up first in a stacked category, facing off against opponents nearly half his age. Despite injuring himself during warm-up just seconds before stepping on the mat, he showed incredible resilience and fighting spirit. His efforts earned him a well-deserved bronze medal.
Later in the day, Karl faced his own battle—managing nerves while waiting until 4pm to compete. When his moment finally came, he delivered with confidence, securing two dominant ippons to win gold in his division.
Both judoka demonstrated outstanding team spirit, supporting each other throughout the day with encouragement and warm-ups. Their commitment and composure made the Ultimate Judo community incredibly proud.
Congratulations to Karl and Keith—your performances were a testament to your hard work, courage, and the spirit of judo.
