Karl and Keith bring home the bling from the Scottish Student Sport Championships

St Andrews university was the battle ground for Keith and Karl's first experience in Judo competition.
The Scottish Student Sport Kyu Grade Championships was held on Sunday 14th November 2021 in the historic town of St Andrews. What a lovely backdrop for a great day of Judo. It was the first experience of compettiive Judo for both Karl and Keith in front of a lively and knowledgable crowd.
Keith was up first in a tough category battling with players half his age. He worked hard in all his fights and showed tremendous fighting spirit finishing a well fought 3rd place despite injuring himself warming up 20 seconds before his first fight!
Karl had to battle his nerves for most of the day before being called to the mat at 4pm to compete. The wait was more than worth it as he dispatched his opponents with 2 fantastic throws to win the category and take home the gold.
Both guys handled their nerves well, showed brilliant team spirit, helping to encourage and warm the other up so that they had the best chance to show their best Judo.
Well done boys, you did yourself, your team mates and coaches proud.
