Rosemount Classes are Moving

04 October 2019

Our junior judo sessions which we run from 35 Midstocket Road, are moving to new premises.

As some of you will be aware, the building we use at 35 Midstocket Road has been up for sale for the past 18 months or so. I received a call a few weeks ago saying a party was interested and have been informed earlier this week that they are now in advanced stage negotiations for sale. As such we have been advised that if the sale goes through, we will have to vacate. Although the church has said, nothing is signed and sealed yet, I feel it is better for the club to move to new premises now rather than at short notice.

The club is coming up for our 10th anniversary in Aberdeen in 2020 and we all feel deeply saddened that our first venue and club will be moving. The club has been working really hard building relationships and links with the local schools, growing the club over the last few years and I am really confident that the move will allow us to continue to offer the quality coaching and opportunities that we currently offer. Latterly this hall has been cold in the winter and too hot in Summer and has become increasingly run down. The new alternatives are far more comfortable for students and parents.

Our search for a suitable venue in the Rosemount area has sadly amounted to nothing with most halls either being busy at the times we require or do not have storage for our mats. We have however secured time slots with 2 of our existing venues, so the following changes will take place:

Wednesday classes will move to Granville Place Lane, Scout Hut. All times will remain the same.

Granville is situated just before the crossroads at Great Western Road and Anderson Drive. It has free on street parking as well as parking in the lane itself. It has a kitchen which can be used by parents, has good heating, lighting, space and side rooms for kids between classes.

Saturday classes will move to Inchgarth Community Centre, Garthdee. With all classes remaining at the same times.

Inchgarth is clean, offers free parking on site, children’s playpark for siblings, reasonably priced café facilities, a large footfall and centre support to help promote the club.

I really appreciate that this is a real inconvenience for some of our members and if getting to the new venue is a major hassle, please let me know and we can see if we can arrange car sharing or alternative classes for you.

The new venues will start after the school holidays from Wednesday 30th October 2019 and at Inchgarth from Saturday 9thNovember 2019.

Thank you for your understanding, if you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
