It was a cold and early start to a Sunday as the players and coaches left Aberdeen at 6 am to compete in the Strathkelvin Championships in Cumbernauld. Nerves were evident, but that didn't stop our tenacious warriors from doing what they have been training to do. For some, this was about points for the black belt, while for others it was their first experience of competitive judo – pushing outside of their comfort zones and challenging themselves. It was the first time handling adrenaline, and for most, the discovery that they are good at judo.
The club proudly competed, delivering an outstanding display of tenacity, positive attitudes, and excellent judo skills.
With 8 competitors representing the club, we achieved an incredible medal haul:
???? Gold – Iona, Lewis
???? Silver – Felix, Rapha, Scott
???? Bronze – Karl, Robert, Ethan
A remarkable 8 medals from 8 competitors – an achievement that highlights the dedication and hard work of our athletes. For several of our fighters, this was their first competitive experience, making their performances even more commendable.
A special acknowledgment goes to Shannon, who, despite having no opponents in her category, demonstrated a fantastic attitude by supporting her teammates and helping them prepare for their matches. Her commitment to the team embodies the true spirit of the club.
We are immensely proud of every fighter, we went with one mission, to go and show yourselves what you are capable of and boy did you perform. Your determination, attitude, and sportsmanship have made the entire club proud.
A huge thank you to our coaches, parents, and supporters for your encouragement and dedication.
The future is bright – onwards and upwards!
